We are seeking an experienced Grade B Automotive Mechanic to join our service team. In this role, you will perform mid-level to advanced diagnostic work, complex mechanical and electrical repairs, and routine maintenance across various vehicle makes and models. You will work independently on standard repairs while collaborating with Other technicians on high-level diagnostic jobs.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complex mechanical repairs, including brake systems, suspension, steering, exhaust, fuel delivery, and engine/transmission components

  • Execute electronic and mechanical diagnostics using OBD-II scanners, oscilloscopes, and specialty equipment.

  • Perform multi-point safety inspections, state emissions/safety checks, and routine maintenance services.

  • Road-test vehicles to evaluate symptoms before repair and verify job completion afterward.

  • Maintain accurate digital or written service records, documenting diagnostic steps and parts required.

  • Mentor Grade C mechanics/apprentices and ensure garage safety and tool maintenance standards are met.

  • Maintain safe work environments in shop such as clean bays as well as ensure tools are put in designated locations.
  • Communicate directly with the Service Advisor so that customers are informed if any additional service is needed. Provide an estimate of time needed for additional repairs.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Certification: ASE Certification (Preferred), NC State inspection License

  • Experience: Minimum 2–5 years of hands-on automotive repair experience in a professional shop or dealership environment.

  • Tools: Own set of standard automotive hand and power tools required.

  • License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

  • Skills: Strong working knowledge of shop equipment (hoists, tire changers, diagnostic scanners, alignment racks).

  • Ability to learn new technology, repair and service procedures and specifications
  • Excellent customer service skills and basic computer competencies
  • Positive, friendly attitude, along with an eagerness to improve
