Customer Service Associate (CSA)

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Registration & Intake: Accurately collect and verify patient demographics, insurance information, and medical history upon arrival.
  • Customer Service & Navigation: Greet patients and visitors, answer questions, provide directions throughout the Sentara Obici facility, and assist with wayfinding.
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Manage department schedules, book appointments, and assist with pre-authorization processes when necessary.
  • Administrative Support: Answer and route incoming phone calls, maintain orderly waiting areas, and manage patient paperwork with high attention to detail.
  • Billing & Payments: Assist with updating billing information, setting up payment plans, and answering general inquiries regarding account balances.
 
 
Qualifications & Requirements 
  • Healthcare Knowledge: Prior experience with health insurance plans, medical terminology, and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong computer keyboarding skills, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to remain calm and empathetic in a fast-paced hospital environment.
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework is a plus.
