Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) to join a Long-Term Care / Skilled Nursing Facility (LTC/SNF) in Tacoma, WA on a 13-week travel assignment. The OT will help residents regain independence in daily living activities, improve functional skills, and enhance their quality of life. The ideal candidate has strong experience in geriatric rehabilitation, excellent communication skills, and a dedication to providing patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess residents’ functional abilities and limitations to create individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions to improve motor skills, coordination, balance, and independence in daily living activities.
  • Recommend and train residents in the use of adaptive equipment and assistive devices to promote safety and self-sufficiency.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care.
  • Monitor residents’ progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to optimize outcomes.
  • Educate residents and their families on home exercise programs, adaptive strategies, and safe daily routines.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of evaluations, treatments, and outcomes in the medical record.
  • Adhere to infection control standards, safety guidelines, and evidence-based rehabilitation practices.

Qualifications

  • Current and valid Occupational Therapist (OT) license in Washington (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Minimum 1–2 years of recent experience as an OT in a LTC/SNF or geriatric care setting preferred.
  • Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong clinical assessment, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Compassionate and patient-focused approach to rehabilitation care.
  • COVID-19 vaccine and recent tuberculosis test.
