Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Labor & Delivery (L&D) Registered Nurse (RN) to join a healthcare facility in Wausau, WI on a 13-week travel assignment. The RN will provide exceptional care to mothers and newborns during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery. The ideal candidate is experienced in obstetric nursing, able to remain calm in high-acuity situations, and dedicated to delivering safe, evidence-based, family-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal vital signs, uterine contractions, and overall labor progression.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments, including induction agents, epidurals, and IV therapies.
  • Assist physicians, midwives, and the care team during deliveries and obstetric emergencies.
  • Provide education to mothers and families on labor, postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record.
  • Adhere to infection control standards, safety protocols, and evidence-based L&D practices.

Qualifications

  • Current and valid RN license in Wisconsin (or compact eligibility).
  • Minimum 1–2 years of recent L&D nursing experience in an acute care setting.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); ACLS preferred.
  • Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills in high-pressure situations.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
  • COVID-19 vaccine and recent tuberculosis test.
