Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (ICU RN) - Travel Position 

Location: Lexington, KY 

Job Type: Travel Contract   

Duration: 13 weeks  

Shift: 3x12s Nights 

Pay: $2335/week  

 

Job Description:  

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. In this critical role, you will provide specialized nursing care to patients with life-threatening conditions, complex medical needs, and those requiring continuous monitoring and advanced interventions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, quick decision-making abilities, and excellent communication skills while collaborating closely with physicians, specialists, and the multidisciplinary care team. 

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Provide direct and comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU. 

  • Monitor, assess, and document patients’ conditions, including vital signs, lab results, and response to treatments. 

  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and other treatments as prescribed. 

  • Manage ventilators, invasive lines, drips, and advanced life-support equipment with precision and safety. 

  • Respond promptly to changes in patient conditions and emergency situations, initiating appropriate interventions. 

  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop, implement, and adjust individualized care plans. 

  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, procedures, and post-discharge care. 

  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards. 

  • Ensure adherence to infection control protocols, safety policies, and ethical standards of care. 

  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing professional development. 

 

Qualifications:  

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing 

  • Active RN license in Kentucky 

  • BLS and ACLS certifications required 

  • 1+ years of ICU experience
