Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Telemetry PCU (Progressive Care Unit) Registered Nurse (RN) to join a healthcare facility in Wausau, WI on a 13-week travel assignment. The RN will provide specialized care to patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring and intermediate-level support between the ICU and general care units. The ideal candidate is adaptable, detail-oriented, and experienced in telemetry and step-down/progressive care environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients requiring telemetry and progressive care monitoring.
- Assess, monitor, and interpret cardiac rhythms and promptly respond to changes in patient condition.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and other prescribed treatments.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in compliance with facility standards.
- Educate patients and families on care plans, cardiac health, and discharge instructions.
- Collaborate with physicians, allied health professionals, and support staff to provide coordinated patient care.
- Maintain adherence to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Current and valid RN license in Wisconsin (or compact eligibility).
- Minimum 1–2 years of recent telemetry, PCU, or step-down nursing experience in an acute care setting.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Compassionate and adaptable approach to patient care.
- COVID-19 vaccine and recent tuberculosis test.
