Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN)

Key Responsibilities:  

• Provide direct nursing care to patients in psychiatric and behavioral health settings. 

• Assess mental health status, monitor progress, and document care in accordance with policies and standards. 

• Administer prescribed medications and monitor effects. 

• Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and interdisciplinary staff in developing and implementing treatment plans. 

• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment while supporting crisis intervention and de-escalation. 

• Educate patients and families on treatment goals, coping skills, and available resources. 

• Support quality improvement and compliance initiatives within the behavioral health unit. 

Qualifications:  

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing 

• Current RN license in IA 

• Certifications Required: 

• BLS (AHA) 

• HWC (Handle with Care) or equivalent crisis intervention training 

• Experience: 2-3 years of behavioral health or psychiatric nursing experience
