Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Neuro ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join a healthcare facility in Wausau, WI on a 13-week travel assignment. The RN will provide specialized critical care to patients with neurological conditions, including traumatic brain injuries, strokes, and post-neurosurgical cases. The ideal candidate is highly skilled, adaptable, and committed to delivering excellent patient-centered care in a fast-paced ICU environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and continuous nursing care to critically ill neurological patients.
  • Administer medications, manage ventilators, and perform advanced patient monitoring.
  • Assess patient conditions, interpret neurological assessments, and communicate findings promptly.
  • Collaborate with neurosurgeons, intensivists, and the interdisciplinary team to manage patient care plans.
  • Document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in compliance with hospital standards.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and recovery expectations.
  • Maintain compliance with infection control, safety, and critical care best practices.

 

Qualifications

  • Current and valid RN license in Wisconsin (or compact eligibility).
  • Minimum 1–2 years of recent Neuro ICU or critical care nursing experience required.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • Strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-acuity, fast-paced settings.
  • COVID-19 vaccine and recent tuberculosis test.
