Acute Care Physical Therapist – Travel Position

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Acute Care Physical Therapist to join a hospital-based team in Phoenix, AZ, on a travel contract. The Physical Therapist will evaluate patients with complex medical conditions, design individualized treatment plans, and provide therapy services to restore mobility, strength, and functional independence. The ideal candidate is adaptable, clinically strong, and experienced in acute care or hospital settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform evaluations to assess patients’ mobility, functional abilities, and rehabilitation needs.
• Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to each patient’s condition and recovery goals.
• Provide therapy interventions such as gait training, strengthening, balance exercises, and functional mobility.
• Educate patients, caregivers, and families on safe mobility, home exercise programs, and rehabilitation strategies.
• Document evaluations, treatment sessions, and progress notes in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Respond appropriately to acute changes in patient conditions and support safe transitions of care.

Qualifications

• Doctorate or Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
• Current and valid Physical Therapist license in Arizona (or compact license).
• Minimum of 1 year of recent PT experience, preferably in acute care or hospital-based settings.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• COVID-19 vaccine and recent tuberculosis test.
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and documentation skills.
• Compassionate, patient-focused approach with ability to thrive in fast-paced clinical environments.
