Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse – Travel Position

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse to join on a travel contract in Wausau, WI. The Med Surg Nurse will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with a variety of medical and post-surgical conditions, ensuring safe, high-quality outcomes in a hospital setting. The ideal candidate is adaptable, detail-oriented, and thrives in fast-paced clinical environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care including assessments, monitoring, and treatment implementation.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and wound care safely and effectively.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient-centered care.
• Respond to patient emergencies with appropriate interventions.
• Adhere to hospital policies, infection control protocols, and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Current and valid Registered Nurse license in Wisconsin (or compact license).
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN).
• Minimum of 1 year of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• COVID-19 vaccine and recent tuberculosis test.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to adapt to diverse patient populations and changing priorities.
