Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse – Travel Position

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to join on a travel contract in Georgetown, KY. The L&D Nurse will provide compassionate, expert care to mothers and newborns during the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum stages. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and experienced in managing both routine and high-risk deliveries in a hospital setting.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to women during labor, delivery, and recovery.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal vital signs, contractions, and overall progress.
  • Administer medications and IV therapies, including epidural support as directed.
  • Assist physicians and midwives during vaginal and cesarean births.
  • Educate patients and families on birthing processes, postpartum care, and newborn care.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes promptly and accurately.
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, and neonatal teams to ensure safe outcomes.
  • Maintain adherence to hospital protocols, infection control standards, and safety practices.

 

Qualifications

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse license in Kentucky (or compact license).
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent Labor and Delivery nursing experience.
  • Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification preferred.
  • COVID-19 vaccine and recent tuberculosis test.
  • Strong assessment, communication, and patient-education skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in fast-paced, high-acuity environments.
