Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse to join on a travel contract in Wausau, WI. The Med Surg Nurse will care for patients with a wide range of medical and post-surgical conditions, delivering high-quality, patient-focused care in a hospital environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable in fast-paced clinical settings.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care including patient assessments, monitoring, and treatment implementation.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and wound care safely and accurately.
  • Monitor patient conditions and document assessments, interventions, and outcomes promptly.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, care plans, and discharge instructions.
  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care.
  • Respond promptly to patient emergencies and provide appropriate interventions.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, infection control standards, and patient safety practices.

 

Qualifications

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse license in Wisconsin (or compact license).
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • COVID-19 vaccine and recent tuberculosis test.
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, diverse patient environment.
