Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Telemetry / Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse to join on a travel contract in Wausau, WI. The PCU Nurse will provide specialized care to patients requiring close monitoring, including those with cardiac, respiratory, or complex medical conditions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and skilled in managing intermediate-level patient care between the ICU and Med Surg settings.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients requiring cardiac monitoring and specialized interventions.
  • Monitor and interpret telemetry readings to detect changes in patient condition.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and effectively.
  • Conduct regular assessments and document patient progress accurately and timely.
  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary staff to coordinate care.
  • Respond to patient emergencies and provide rapid interventions as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and infection control protocols.

 

Qualifications

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse license in Wisconsin (or compact license).
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent Telemetry or Progressive Care Unit nursing experience.
  • Current certifications in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
  • COVID-19 vaccine and recent tuberculosis test.
  • Strong clinical assessment, monitoring, and communication skills.
  • Ability to provide patient-centered care in a fast-paced PCU environment.
