Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse to join on a travel contract in Bismarck, ND. This role is based in a 31-bed Med Surg unit, where the nurse will provide care to patients with diverse medical and post-surgical needs. The ideal candidate is flexible, detail-oriented, and thrives in a busy hospital environment that requires both critical thinking and strong teamwork.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct patient care, including assessment, monitoring, and treatment interventions.
  • Administer medications, intravenous therapies, and wound care according to physician orders.
  • Document patient status, vital signs, and care outcomes accurately and timely.
  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate care plans.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions.
  • Respond promptly to patient emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions.
  • Float to other units as assigned to support hospital staffing needs.

 

Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse license in North Dakota (or compact license).
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience.
  • Current certifications in Basic Life Support and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
  • COVID-19 vaccine and recent tuberculosis test.
  • Strong communication, assessment, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage a diverse patient caseload in a 31-bed Med Surg unit.
