RN Labor and Delivery (L&D)

Location: Tracy, CA
Contract Type: Travel
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 3x12 Nights
Pay: $2,779.20/week
Completion Bonus: $2,500 per contract (up to $7,500 after three contracts)

Job Description

Travel RN needed for a Labor and Delivery unit providing care for laboring patients and immediate postpartum mothers and newborns. Nurse must be fully comfortable caring for both delivering mothers and newborn infants. Role includes triage, labor support, delivery assistance, C-section circulating and recovery, and postpartum stabilization. Epic charting experience preferred. Weekend coverage required. Local candidates accepted at adjusted rate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care in labor and delivery
  • Perform obstetrical triage and sterile vaginal exams
  • Monitor fetal status using external fetal monitoring and EFM
  • Assist with vaginal deliveries and circulate for C-sections
  • Recover post–C-section patients
  • Administer obstetric medications including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, and antihypertensives
  • Perform newborn assessment including APGAR scoring and safety banding
  • Manage epidurals, PCA, and IV infusions
  • Provide postpartum assessments including fundus and lochia checks
  • Document all care and interventions in the EMR

Qualifications

  • Active California RN license required
  • BLS and ACLS required (AHA or American Red Cross)
  • NRP (provider level) required
  • AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring required
  • Minimum 2 years Labor & Delivery experience required
  • Must be comfortable with both mother and newborn care
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Nursys report within last 2 weeks required at submission
  • Copies of certifications required at submission
  • Two references within the last year required
  • Must meet travel compliance and lab timeline requirements
