Pay Rate: $2,250/week (plus $1,680 completion bonus per contract, up to $5,040 after three contracts)

Job Description

A healthcare facility in Milwaukee, WI, is seeking a skilled and dedicated Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel contract. The ICU RN will provide high-acuity, evidence-based care to critically ill patients requiring complex monitoring and interventions. The ideal candidate has recent ICU experience, strong critical thinking skills, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic, multidisciplinary critical care environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult patients in the ICU.

• Monitor and manage patients requiring advanced life-support systems, including ventilators, drips, and invasive monitoring.

• Recognize and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition, performing life-saving interventions when necessary.

• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.

• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Epic (EHR system).

• Float to other critical care or step-down units within the facility or up to 40 miles as needed.

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care in alignment with Ascension Health’s mission and values.

Qualifications

• Licensure: Active Wisconsin RN license or Compact State eligibility (verified via Nursys).

• Certifications:

  • BLS (AHA) – Required

  • ACLS (AHA) – Required

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required.

• Skills:

  • Proficient in critical care assessments, ventilator management, and titration of vasoactive drips.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Proficiency in Epic EHR documentation.

  • Flexibility to work every other weekend (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH) as needed.
