Pay: $2,178.00/week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts)

Job Description

ATC Healthcare is seeking an experienced and adaptable Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Salem, Virginia. The nurse will work in a freestanding emergency department (FSED) that provides care to both high- and low-acuity patients.

This unit maintains 8 beds and is staffed by a small, highly collaborative team. The ideal candidate must be confident in managing critically ill patients, performing medication administration, and providing immediate response to medical emergencies. The position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that values independence, teamwork, and professional excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care for adult and pediatric patients presenting with acute and critical conditions.
  • Rapidly assess, triage, and prioritize patient care needs based on acuity.
  • Administer medications, perform IV therapy, and carry out emergency interventions as required.
  • Operate and monitor GE equipment and document accurately in the Meditech EMR system.
  • Collaborate with EMTs and other healthcare team members to deliver safe, timely, and effective care.
  • Perform routine lab draws and assist with procedures in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Maintain clear communication, professionalism, and teamwork within a small-unit environment.
  • Uphold infection control, safety, and hospital policy standards.
  • Work a rotating schedule including 4 weekend shifts per schedule.

Qualifications

  • Active Virginia RN or Compact State RN license (required).
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent Emergency Department or critical care experience (required).
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC (required); ENPC preferred.
  • Must demonstrate ability to care for critically ill patients independently.
  • Strong assessment, clinical decision-making, and multitasking skills.
  • Comfortable working in both high- and low-acuity ED environments.
  • Required scrub color: Navy Blue (no maroon or green horizontal stripes permitted).
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test required.
