Pay: $1,832.40/week (plus $2,150 completion bonus per contract, up to $6,450 after three contracts)

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care, including executing Licensed Independent Provider (LIP) orders, administering medications, and assisting in patient examinations and treatments. This position involves applying nursing and supervisory techniques in the care and treatment of inmates/residents within a correctional facility setting. The RN performs all clinical procedures within the scope of licensure and ensures compliance with facility policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments of inmates/residents with illnesses or injuries and refer to appropriate healthcare facilities as needed.

• Attend sick calls with the physician, prepare examination rooms, and maintain equipment readiness.

• Administer and document medications according to facility policy.

• Supervise and monitor nursing care provided by LVNs/LPNs and non-licensed medical staff.

• Maintain accurate and confidential medical records.

• Monitor inmate hospitalizations for early release opportunities when appropriate.

• Provide health counseling and education on an individual or group basis.

• Assist with audits, reports, and documentation as required.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable pharmacy laws, especially those regarding controlled substances.

• Participate in facility accreditation processes (NCCHC, ACA, JCAHO).

• Respond to medical emergencies and perform emergency procedures as needed.

• Maintain professional relationships with facility staff and outside providers.

Requirements

• Licensure: Active RN license in the state of Ohio

• Certifications: BLS (required)

• Experience: At least 1 year of professional nursing experience (correctional or acute care preferred)

• Education: Graduate from an accredited college, university, or nursing program with a degree/diploma in nursing

• Other Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Must present a valid Social Security Card (for facility clearance)

  • Valid driver’s license required

  • Must pass facility fingerprinting on the first day
