Pay: $2,052/week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts)

Job Description

ATC Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Neuro/Spine Medical-Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This position offers an opportunity to care for a complex, high-acuity patient population, including post-operative neuro and spine patients, stroke, seizure, trauma, and post-ICU step-down cases.

The RN will provide comprehensive nursing care in a 24-bed unit that blends medical-surgical and telemetry care with neuro specialization. Strong neuro assessment skills, critical thinking, and drain management experience are essential. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates excellent communication, and delivers patient-centered care with precision and compassion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide total nursing care to patients with neurological, spine, and medical-surgical conditions requiring continuous telemetry monitoring.
  • Perform focused neuro assessments, monitor for changes in neurological status, and act promptly to prevent complications.
  • Manage post-operative neuro and spinal surgery patients, including monitoring surgical drains, groin sites, and incision care.
  • Care for patients with stroke, seizures, DKA, renal failure, and post-trauma recovery.
  • Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments safely in accordance with facility protocols and provider orders.
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, recognizing and managing dysrhythmias as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to plan and implement individualized patient care plans.
  • Maintain accurate documentation using the Cerner EMR system.
  • Float as needed to other medical-surgical or telemetry units of similar or lower acuity.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure safe, efficient, and quality-driven patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Active Indiana RN license or Compact State license (required).
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent Neuro/Med-Surg/Telemetry experience (required).
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (required).
  • Proficiency in neurological assessments, drain and post-surgical site management, and telemetry monitoring.
  • Experience with chest tube management and post-IR groin site care (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Cerner EMR (required).
  • Must be able to manage a 1:5–1:6 patient ratio in a 24-bed unit.
  • Must wear navy scrubs per department dress code.
  • Strong critical thinking, multitasking, and communication skills.
  • Must live 50+ miles from the facility (locals not accepted).
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test required.
