Shift: 5×8 Days (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM)
Pay: $2,262/week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts)

Position Summary

ATC Healthcare is seeking an experienced Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

The Psychiatric RN will provide high-quality care to patients in an inpatient behavioral health setting. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical assessment skills, experience managing acute psychiatric cases, and the ability to respond effectively to crisis situations while maintaining a therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct and compassionate care to patients experiencing behavioral health crises or psychiatric conditions.
  • Assess and document patient mental health status, symptoms, and progress.
  • Administer prescribed medications, monitor effectiveness, and report side effects or behavioral changes.
  • Implement individualized care plans in collaboration with psychiatrists, social workers, and nursing teams.
  • Assist in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques for patients exhibiting aggressive or self-harming behaviors.
  • Educate patients and families on medications, treatment plans, and coping strategies.
  • Ensure safety through continuous observation, routine checks, and adherence to behavioral protocols.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital standards, HIPAA regulations, and infection control procedures.
  • Accurately document all care provided in the EMR system.

Qualifications

  • Active Pennsylvania RN license or Compact State RN license (required).
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent psychiatric or behavioral health RN experience (required).
  • Required Certifications (AHA):
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Preferred Certification: CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or equivalent.
  • Strong therapeutic communication and crisis management skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in a high-acuity behavioral health environment.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis (TB) test required.
