Location: Albany, NY
Job Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 3×12 Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Pay: $2,336.40/week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts)
Position Summary
ATC Healthcare is seeking an experienced Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Albany, New York.
The PACU RN provides critical postoperative care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical or invasive procedures. This position requires advanced assessment skills, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to manage high-acuity patients in a fast-paced recovery environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor patients emerging from anesthesia, managing airway, hemodynamics, and pain control.
- Provide direct nursing care, including IV therapy, medication administration, and oxygen support per anesthesia and physician orders.
- Assess and document patient conditions, interventions, and outcomes accurately using Epic EMR.
- Collaborate closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and operating room teams to ensure smooth transitions of care.
- Respond promptly to complications such as respiratory distress, hemodynamic instability, or pain management needs.
- Educate patients and families on post-anesthesia care, discharge instructions, and recovery expectations.
- Maintain patient safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance throughout recovery.
- Float as needed to support other perioperative units based on patient census and clinical need.
Qualifications
- Active New York RN license (required).
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of recent PACU or critical care experience (required).
- Epic EMR experience required.
- Required Certifications (AHA):
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Strong critical thinking, assessment, and emergency response skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Must adhere to facility’s dress code: Navy blue scrubs required.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed).
- Recent tuberculosis (TB) test required.
