Registered Nurse – Rehabilitation (Rehab) Travel Position

Location: Salem, VA

Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 3×12 Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Pay: $2,055.60/week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts)

Position Summary

ATC Healthcare is seeking an experienced Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Salem, Virginia. This 35-bed Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit (4E) provides a supportive, team-based environment where nurses work alongside physical, occupational, and speech therapists, as well as physiatrists, physician assistants, and neuropsychologists to help patients regain independence and achieve functional recovery goals.

The Rehab RN will deliver high-quality nursing care to patients recovering from neurological conditions, orthopedic surgeries, strokes, and other physical impairments requiring coordinated, multi-disciplinary rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to adult and geriatric rehabilitation patients.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans that support patient rehabilitation goals.
• Administer medications, including IV, PICC line, and PEG tube medications, and perform treatments such as bladder scans, Foley and catheter care, and tracheostomy maintenance.
• Monitor vital signs, neurological and functional status, and response to therapy and medications.
• Perform blood administration, bladder irrigation, and tube feedings as prescribed.
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team including PT, OT, ST, Physiatry, and Case Management to optimize patient outcomes.
• Encourage patient participation in mobility and therapy exercises to promote independence.
• Educate patients and families on recovery plans, self-care techniques, and discharge instructions.
• Document all care and progress in the Meditech EMR system accurately and promptly.
• Float to other Med-Surg departments as needed within scope of practice.
• Work every other weekend and holidays as scheduled.

Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license or Compact State RN license (required).
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Med-Surg or Progressive Care (PCU) RN experience (required).
• Inpatient Rehab experience preferred.
• Required Certification:
  • BLS (Basic Life Support, AHA required)
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR preferred.
• Strong patient assessment, medication administration, and rehabilitation care coordination skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse clinical team.
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed).
• Recent tuberculosis (TB) test required.
