Duration: 13 weeks  
Shift: 3x12s Nights
Pay: $2055.60/week  
Completion Bonus: Up to $7,500 total. (You will receive $2,500 after the successful completion of each of your first 3 contracts with us)

Job Description:  

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Orthopedics Registered Nurse (RN) to provide specialized care for patients undergoing musculoskeletal procedures and managing acute or chronic orthopedic conditions. This role primarily focuses on pre- and post-operative care for joint replacements (hip, knee, shoulder), trauma, spinal surgeries, and fracture management. The Ortho RN is essential in managing pain, monitoring neurovascular status, and facilitating mobility and patient education for rehabilitation. The ideal candidate is compassionate, skilled in complex pain and wound management, and committed to patient recovery and functional independence.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Provide specialized post-operative care for orthopedic surgery patients, including monitoring incision sites, drains, and signs of infection.
  • Conduct frequent and detailed neurovascular assessments (CSMs) to detect complications such as Compartment Syndrome.
  • Manage complex pain regimens, including patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) and regional nerve blocks.
  • Facilitate early mobilization and collaborate closely with Physical Therapy (PT) and Occupational Therapy (OT) to achieve patient ambulation goals.
  • Care for patients with various orthopedic devices, including casts, traction, continuous passive motion (CPM) machines, and external fixators.
  • Educate patients and families on post-operative recovery, prescribed weight-bearing status, mobility precautions, and discharge instructions.
  • Administer medications and perform general medical-surgical nursing duties as needed.

Qualifications:  

  • Active RN license in North Carolina.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent Orthopedics, Med-Surg, or Trauma nursing experience.
  • Certification in Orthopedic Nursing (ONC) is preferred.
  • COVID vaccine and recent TB test may be required.
