Job Description

 

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN) to join a healthcare facility in Davis, CA on a 13-week travel assignment. The RN will play a critical role in the surgical team by delivering high-quality, efficient, and safe perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing a wide variety of surgical procedures. The ideal candidate has strong OR experience, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and excellent communication skills to coordinate care in a fast-paced surgical environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Prepare operating rooms and ensure all surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies are sterile and ready.

  • Monitor patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.

  • Assist surgeons during operations by handling instruments and maintaining a sterile environment.

  • Act as a patient advocate by ensuring safety, comfort, and confidentiality throughout the perioperative process.

  • Collaborate with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) staff.

  • Accurately document nursing care, surgical events, and patient responses.

  • Follow established protocols for infection control and surgical site safety.

  • Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.

Qualifications

 

  • Current and valid RN license in California (or compact eligibility).

  • Minimum 1–2 years of recent Operating Room nursing experience.

  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); CNOR preferred.

  • Proficiency in scrubbing and circulating roles for various surgical specialties.

  • Exceptional organizational, critical thinking, and communication skills.

  • COVID-19 vaccine and recent tuberculosis test.
