Position Purpose

The Housekeeping and Laundry Assistant helps maintain a clean, odor-free, safe, and homelike environment for residents, staff, and guests. This position is responsible for cleaning resident apartments and common areas, completing laundry services, and supporting infection control standards while treating residents and their belongings with dignity and respect.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and carry out directions in English
• Housekeeping, laundry, hospitality, or healthcare experience is preferred
• Minimum of 16 years of age
• Must be able to pass the state mandated criminal background screening and pre-employment drug screening for illegal substances

Essential Functions

• Clean resident apartments as assigned, including bathrooms, floors, windows, dusting, trash removal, and general tidying
• Clean and sanitize common areas such as dining rooms, lounges, lobbies, activity spaces, public restrooms, and service areas
• Dust furniture, fixtures, handrails, baseboards, lamps, and other assigned areas
• Refill paper products, soap dispensers, and other supplies as needed
• Empty trash and recyclables and dispose of items properly
• Use cleaning products, chemicals, and equipment safely and according to directions
• Properly store cleaning products, tools, supplies, and housekeeping carts
• Report damaged furniture, maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or equipment issues to supervisor
• Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, hang, and return resident personal laundry promptly and respectfully
• Keep resident laundry separate and follow garment care instructions whenever possible
• Inspect laundry for stains, tears, or concerns and report or address as directed
• Complete flat laundry, including bed linens, towels, table linens, napkins, aprons, and other assigned items
• Iron, mend, or treat items as needed and as directed
• Maintain clean and organized laundry, housekeeping, and storage areas
• Launder resident personal items in keeping with label instructions. DO NOT MIX RESIDENT Laundry.
• Fold or hang according to resident preference.
• Iron as needed
• Return laundered items to resident promptly
• Proper use and maintenance of equipment.

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist residents as needed to fulfill job duties
