Position Overview

The General Manager is responsible for the overall management and success of the gym. This role is a blend of leadership, sales, operations, and customer service. The GM will ensure an exceptional member experience, drive membership growth, oversee staff performance, and maintain operational excellence. This is a hands-on position that requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a genuine passion for fitness and helping others achieve their goals.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Recruit, hire, train, and develop a high-performing team of Membership Sales Managers, Personal Trainers, and Support Staff.
  • Foster a positive and motivating work environment aligned with the Anytime Fitness brand.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, performance evaluations, and ongoing coaching.

Sales & Marketing

  • Achieve monthly membership sales goals through effective lead generation, follow-up, and closing strategies.
  • Oversee local marketing initiatives, community outreach, and social media campaigns to increase brand visibility and membership.
  • Analyze membership and revenue reports to drive strategic decisions and continuous improvement.

Operations & Member Experience

  • Ensure the gym maintains high standards of cleanliness, safety, and equipment functionality.
  • Deliver an exceptional member experience by engaging with members, addressing concerns, and promoting retention programs.
  • Manage budgets, payroll, inventory, and vendor relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with Anytime Fitness brand standards and local/state regulations.

Community Engagement

  • Build relationships with local businesses and organizations to promote partnerships and corporate memberships.
  • Represent the Anytime Fitness brand in the community through events, networking, and sponsorships.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of management experience, preferably in fitness, hospitality, or sales.
  • Proven success in sales, marketing, and driving team performance.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Passion for fitness and helping others improve their lives.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Proficient with basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, CRM systems, POS systems).
  • Personal Training Certification (NASM preferred)
  • CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).
