American Hospitality Management, Inc. is looking to add a Human Resources Manager to our team! AHM., Inc. is an award-winning hotel management company located in Cheboygan, MI, operating hotels across the United States.  Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for the overall operations of the Human Resources department. The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for directing and ensuring the efficient administration and management of the Human Resources discipline. Responsibilities will include wage/benefit administration, payroll, compliance with all federal, state and local regulations, guidance and support to management staff and hourly associates, as well as other HR functions.

Overview of Requirements:

  • Extensive experience with timekeeping and payroll software
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in employment laws/statutes required
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
  • Excellent leadership abilities; five years’ experience in Human Resources at a Manager level is preferred
  • Experience and expertise in handling associate relations issues
  • Strong knowledge of basic employment laws/statues (ADA, FLSA, FMLA, Wage/Hour, etc.)
  • Hotel/hospitality industry experience preferred

  • Keeps current on all laws affecting the human resource’s function and participates in developing or changing policies as needed.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall company strategy
  • Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances or other issues while ensuring compliance with federal, state and local labor laws
  • Assist in both the AHM and hotel talent recruitment and selection process
  • Support current and future employee needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of our people
  • Assess training needs to apply and monitor training programs
  • Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance
  • Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics
  • Provides a conduit between financial data derived from the payroll process and the financial data required for the accurate financial reporting thereof
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of Human Resources best practices
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Thorough knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations pertaining to Human Resources matters
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition
  • Maintains a professional appearance and manner at all times

Supervisory Responsibility:

The Human Resource Manager role will have direct oversight of the payroll function and team members.
