Human Resources / Payroll Clerk

Job Summary

The Human Resources/Payroll Clerk is responsible for processing payroll, maintaining employee records, and supporting a range of HR functions. The ideal candidate is organized, discreet, and experienced in payroll and HR data management.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update employee records, including new hires, terminations, and personnel changes.
  • Accurately compile and process payroll data including hours worked, salaries, commissions, garnishments, and deductions.
  • Enter and update employee information in payroll systems and maintain accurate payroll records.
  • Ensure timely and error-free payroll processing on a semi-monthly basis.
  • Record pay changes such as tax exemptions, benefit enrollments, and insurance deductions.
  • Prepare regular payroll reports including gross pay, taxes, vacation accruals, and benefit deductions.
  • Perform journal entries and account reconciliations; assist with general ledger support.
  • Ensure accurate benefit enrollment and deduction tracking, including health insurance and 401(k) plans.
  • Assist with HR documentation and compliance, including filings, audits, and reporting.
  • Provide general support for HR initiatives and administrative tasks.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Prior payroll processing experience required; automotive dealership experience is a plus.
  • Basic accounting knowledge and experience with general ledger entries preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications and basic math.
  • Must be detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and integrity.
