The DoubleTree by Hilton Miami Airport Convention Center is seeking an experienced General Manager to join our team. This position is 100% on-site, no remote work.
The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Miami Airport Convention Center is conveniently situated just south of Miami International Airport off the Dolphin Expressway adjacent to the Blue Lagoon Business District. The hotel features 334 guestrooms, onsite dining, fitness room, outdoor pool, business center, complimentary High-Speed Internet Access, 24,000 square feet of retail space, 20,000 Square feet of Hotel Meeting and Function Space and a Convention Center with 152,000 square feet of meeting, event and exhibit space.
This position will be an exempt position and will report to the SVP of Hotel Operations.
The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, financial performance, operational excellence, guest experience, team engagement, and long-term success of the DoubleTree by Hilton Miami Airport & Convention Center. This is a high-impact leadership role for a full-service hotel and convention center property currently undergoing renovation. The General Manager will lead the property through this period of transformation while positioning the hotel for sustainable revenue growth, stronger market performance, improved guest satisfaction, and operational excellence.
The successful candidate will be a commercially focused hotel leader who can balance day-to-day operations with aggressive revenue growth, strategic sales leadership, renovation execution, cost management, brand standards, and team development. The General Manager will work closely with corporate and regional leadership, Hilton representatives, department heads to maximize the property's financial and competitive performance.
Job Responsibilities/ Functions:
• Provide overall leadership and direction for all hotel and convention center operations.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive business strategy focused on revenue growth, profitability, market share, and long-term asset value.
• Lead the property through its renovation, ensuring guest disruption is minimized and renovation activities remain aligned with operational and financial priorities.
• Partner closely with Sales & Marketing, Revenue Management, and Operations to maximize occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, total hotel revenue, and convention center revenue.
• Establish clear revenue goals and hold leadership teams accountable for achieving or exceeding budgets, forecasts, and key performance indicators.
• Drive business across all market segments, including group, corporate, business travel, leisure, airline/cruise, government, and convention business.
• Strengthening relationships with key accounts, meeting planners, convention partners, local businesses, airlines, cruise partners, and tourism organizations.
• Ensure the hotel and convention center maintain a strong competitive position within the Miami market.
• Review financial statements, operating reports, forecasts, labor productivity, departmental expenses, and capital requirements to identify opportunities for improved profitability.
• Manage labor strategically while maintaining service standards, employee engagement, and guest satisfaction.
• Ensure compliance with Hilton brand standards, company policies, applicable laws, safety requirements, and all required operational procedures.
• Champion the guest experience and establish a culture of accountability for service delivery, cleanliness, responsiveness, and problem resolution.
• Monitor guest satisfaction scores, online reputation, service recovery, and operational trends, implementing corrective action when needed.
• Recruit, develop, coach, and retain a high-performing executive leadership team and department heads.
• Create a culture of teamwork, accountability, communication, recognition, and continuous improvement.
• Conduct regular leadership meetings and ensure departmental goals are aligned with the hotel's overall business objectives.
• Ensure effective coordination between hotel operations and the convention center, including events, banquets, food and beverage, engineering, housekeeping, security, and sales.
• Oversee capital planning and prioritize projects that support revenue generation, guest experience, operational efficiency, and asset preservation.
• Maintain strong communication with ownership and senior leadership regarding financial results, renovation progress, operational challenges, opportunities, and strategic initiatives.
RENOVATION & TRANSFORMATION LEADERSHIP
• Develop and maintain an operating plan that protects guest satisfaction and revenue while construction and renovation activities are underway.
• Coordinate with corporate, contractors, project managers, Hilton representatives, and department leaders to minimize operational disruption.
• Communicate renovation impacts clearly to team members, guests, meeting planners, and business partners.
• Identify opportunities created by the renovation to improve service delivery, product positioning, pricing strategy, sales opportunities, and overall market competitiveness.
• Ensure renovated spaces are incorporated into the property's sales strategy and effectively communicated to the marketplace.
• Build momentum before, during, and after renovation completion to accelerate revenue growth and strengthen the property's market position.
REVENUE & FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE
• Own overall hotel financial performance and ensure the property meets or exceeds annual budget and financial objectives.
• Set an aggressive but achievable revenue culture across all departments and market segments.
• Partner with Controller to optimize pricing, inventory, channel mix, group displacement, and demand strategy.
• Review forecasts and financial results and implement action plans when performance is below expectations.
• Identify new revenue streams and opportunities across rooms, food and beverage, banquets, catering, meetings, parking, and convention center operations.
• Drive accountability for profitability, including departmental profit, payroll productivity, purchasing, food and beverage cost, and controllable expenses.
• Ensure capital investments are evaluated based on operational need, guest impact, return on investment, and strategic value.
SALES, MARKETING & MARKET SHARE
• Provide visible executive leadership to the Sales & Marketing team and establish clear expectations for production and account development.
• Support the development of a strong sales culture focused on prospecting, conversion, retention, repeat business, and total account value.
• Review sales pace, group booking trends, lost business, lead conversion, account production, and market segmentation.
• Personally participate in high-value sales calls, client meetings, community relationships, and major convention opportunities.
• Leverage the Miami Airport location and convention center capabilities to increase group, corporate, meetings, and events business.
• Develop partnerships that increase visibility, demand, and revenue for the hotel and convention center.
GUEST EXPERIENCE & BRAND STANDARDS
• Create a service culture that consistently delivers the DoubleTree by Hilton brand promise.
• Monitor guest feedback, online reviews, service scores, and operational trends to identify improvement opportunities.
• Ensure all departments understand their role in delivering a seamless guest experience.
• Lead service recovery efforts and ensure significant guest concerns are addressed promptly and professionally.
• Maintain strong relationships with Hilton and ensure compliance with all applicable brand standards and quality expectations.
TEAM LEADERSHIP & CULTURE
• Build a high-performing executive team through clear expectations, coaching, accountability, and recognition.
• Develop succession plans and internal talent pipelines for key leadership positions.
• Promote a workplace culture centered on respect, inclusion, communication, teamwork, and accountability.
• Ensure leaders effectively manage performance, attendance, training, employee relations, and departmental standards.
• Recognize and celebrate team member accomplishments while addressing performance deficiencies promptly and consistently.
Qualifications/ Skills:
• At least 6 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field; or a 4-year college degree and at least 2 years of related experience; or a 2-year college degree and 4 or more years of related experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of GM Management experience and prior Sales Leadership is required.
• Hilton Experience is required with prior Meeting Space over 30,000 sq. ft of more.
• Must be proficient in Windows, Company approved spreadsheets and word processing.
• Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
• Must routinely meet deadlines.
• Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
• Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc., from disparate sources and consider, adjust or modify to meet the constraints of the business needs.
• Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions.
• Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
